Why self-love should be your first priority!

Self-love is one of the most easily and frequently preached concepts, but the most challenging!

In one minute, you can be in love with yourself and, the next, find something you absolutely despise about yourself. Before you know it, you fall into an endless pit of self-destructive thoughts and you don’t want that!

Self-love is not just a tool to make life better, it is a way of being! Practicing self-love has the power to make you happier and healthier, but it also serves as an access to your passions, to your purpose, and is your guiding star for a meaningful and impactful life.

Don’t ever lose yourself in a bid to find someone else and don’t wander away from yourself to get close to somebody else. Contrary to popular belief, one of the greatest signs of maturity is making yourself a priority. Selflessness is not neglect of self! Mandy Hale said, “It’s not selfish to love yourself, take care of yourself, and make your happiness a priority. It’s necessary”. You will never gain anyone’s approval by begging for it. When you stand confidently in your own worth, respect follows.

So, here are three little tips with massive results to practice self-love!

Change your thoughts

Your thoughts and your mindset are the most difficult to alter, and it often requires a lot of unlearning to come to a place of pure consciousness and peace with who you are.

Once I learned I felt unworthy and undeserving of love, I was in a state of shock. I would never say this to another human being, so why have I inflicted such painful and unloving messages upon myself?

From that day on, I sought to rediscover what I love about myself, and what I have done to be of service to others and make an impact on their lives.

Remove toxic people from your life.

It follows with self-love! You will start to realize that you deserve better and you should no longer put up with the negativity pulling you down. You will tighten your circle and it includes only those who are just easy on the heart and mind.

Make time for things you love.

Loving your life is an important part of loving yourself. If you don’t love your life, that makes it hard to be happy. So, make time for things you enjoy! We work hard and we deserve to take time to do things that we love. Start by taking just 30 minutes a day to spend time with yourself and your loving thoughts about yourself.
